Closed-Loop-Karte
Gift card redeemable only within a single brand or a controlled network of accepted merchants — not an open prepaid card.
Closed-loop cards are issued by a single brand (e.g. a Bol.com card) or within a controlled multi-brand network. In Germany this is required under ZAG to qualify as tax-free Sachbezug.
For most European frameworks — UK trivial benefits, IE small benefit exemption, NL small-gift rule — a closed-loop card is the safe default. Open-loop cards are typically treated as cash equivalents.
